steak night after exams
the exams were finally over. a few days ago. i didn't think it went so well, but let's just skip that topic. today was the start of the first day of my summer vacation project. it wasn't anything much, because i had not attend the PC2 induction course, a course to attend such that it qualifies you to work in a PC2 lab. Hence, my supervisor just held a lab meeting in the morning, buying everyone coffee. we introduced ourselves and my supervisor briefly discussed about how the group was gonna be like, what are the things we'll be doing...
basically that was all we could do as the new students couldn't start work in lab immediately. but, she told us to read some journals and then do a half page summary for the journals related to our work. i have 3 to complete by Wednesday.
well, that didn't dampen my mood for some steak. been wanting to try some ever since i got here. and i found this place, it's called the Beach House bar and grill, located at Myer Centre in the City. it was crowded when i got there, i guess it was because of the Steak Night they had every Monday. 200g of Rump Steak with salad and fries for a price of Aud$8.90. however you have to order a drink first, and i got beer, just normal draught. the steak was generally good, but nothing fantastic. i think the only places which still had the best steaks are Morton's of Chicago and Lawry's the Prime Ribs.
it's been a rainy day. but the night sky was beautiful, casting a slightly blurred, misty look upon the city. i went over to Southbank, hoping to watch Quantum of Solace, but realised that the movie was not released yet.
without movies, there was a need of some after-dinner-dessert, so i went to this Batavia place nearby. its a mediterranean/east india kinda cafe, they sell tea and some antique like stuff and ornaments. and you can order various types of coffee but majority is tea. and they have their own cakes and pastries you can order.
some calenders.
those rolled up stuff are picture posters.
all right. these small little pastries is the Cookie platter i ordered. small pieces of cake, and bite sized cookies of different flavour. in the centre is chocolate dip. and there's chocolate powder and icing sugar spreaded all over.
me, serving the Batavia Chai Spice Tea. loose leaf tea (i can't remember from where) with spices like... cardamom, cinnamon, and i can't remember the other 2.
that's all folks. relaxation after the exams. better than going to noisy clubs, pubs and parties.
