So... finally handed in my report on Friday, and days of being in the lab are way over me except for the one last week till Valentines. just in time to spend quality time with... Scarlett, Adriana, or Alessandra? gosh... this time of the year is always giving me such a difficult choice to make. but anyway, apart from that, i'm transitioning into the relaxed phase.
for those who might not have a chance to come to Brisbane, or need to have a look what it's like before coming over, do not fret. right now, i'm gonna introduce UQ, which is the Uni i'm currently studying, and parts of Brisbane City. and specifically showing you what's it like in Summer, or what's left of it.
here's the lovely green field right out in front of the house. on lovely sunny days where the UV rays are a killer, you get idiots roaming around, jogging, walking their dogs, playing sports like rugby and soccer. which is why skin cancer advertisements are a must on Australia tv.
and the wonderful blue sky, where the mutant-powers UV rays from the sun falls onto us.
sunflower from somewhere in school. no, doesn't gives off UV.
this, is UQ Lakes. one of the favourtie scenic spots for people to visit.
always streaming with wildlife.
alot of them.
this is another smaller lake, almost completely covered in algae, just a distance away from the larger one seen above.
here, we embark on a journey on Brisbane River. picture below shows the Citycat making its way to the City from UQ Lakes pier.
we're nearing the City. this is one of the many bridges (at least 4) that you will pass by while on the way. i've always suspected they have something for bridges.
part of the City's office buildings.
across the City is Southbank. and here you can see the ferris wheel. buildings on the left of the wheel belong to Griffith University.
i forgot to mention that it was evening when i was on my way to the City. the sun is on it's way to provide light and heat to the other hemisphere.
closer look of the ferris.
i alighted at Southbank.
across the river from Southbank, you can see the stretch of buildings leading to the City.
this is a recreational park somewhere in Southbank where people come together for, well, recreational activities and BBQ!
the 'pasar malams' or what they call in Australia, Lifestyle market.
you have on-the-street performances...
and above-the-street performances.
this is nothing much but a restaurant/bar still in the midst of renovation. what caught my eye was the attractive rows of alcohol in front of very nicely lit mirror with water running down like a waterfall. something i think i would want for my pad, in 10 years.
ok. here's another part in Southbank, where there's a rainforest walk area. i don't know why, but i'm guessing they like to be near nature.
they call this the Nepalese Pagoda.
The elephant statue guarding the entrance to the Nepalese Pagoda.
back at the river looking at the City and sky.
outside The Casino on George street.
same Casino, different colour.
now i'm at Eagle Street pier, looking across at the Story Bridge. opened in July 1940, and was named after John Douglas Story, a public servant. these days, the bridge links Fortitude Valley with Kangaroo Point. it is a steel cantilever bridge at a distance of 777 metres long.
some steps with running water. extended shutter speed to create the effect.
this shot is taken at the rear of a Citycat heading back to where i stay. picture is slightly blurred due to the moving ferry.
last shot of the night, on the ferry, as it stops at one of the piers along the river.
