Summer and Subway

today marks the end of the first week of summer project. i'll be working for one more week next week, until my supervisor leaves for the whole of December. and then, i'll be touring the nearby must-go places like Byron Bay, North Stradbroke, Sunshine Coast, Surfer's Paradise and so on.

working in the lab has been fine so far. tiring but fine. nothing too foreign to me, just need some familiarization and I've been doing good for the first week. preparing media and buffers to be used, and then inoculation of cultures so that i can start something the coming week. my supervisor said i work fast, too fast. and she constantly has to come up with things for me to do. i suppose working fast is good, at least she said it was. other than lab work, the only difficult thing was to read and understand the related journal papers to the project. there's nothing much i could reveal here, nothing interesting anyway. that sums up the first week of summer project.

i met this new guy, also working in the same lab for his summer, but on a different project. his name is Alden Tan. as the name suggests, he's also from Singapore. the interesting thing, is that he's a year younger than me and HIS SON is 2 months old. i didn't ask much about his son, but i suppose i'll get a chance to see him in the future, and he said he's gonna introduce his wife. anyway, to me, the best thing is that he works part time at the Subway just off Hawken drive. so, in future i can buy Subway and get him to squeeze in as much meat+cheese+veg+sauce as possible, and i'll have a super Sub. actually, i just came home from Subway, and i just did that. haha...

ok... i'm watching a Joe Satriani video. "Always with me; Always with you" is my favourite piece. watch the video and look at him play the guitar. at certain points, it looks as thou he could have an orgasm just by playing the guitar.

watch collecting...

i love watches. they're elegant masters of time and speaks very much of the wearer's personality. these are the few that i exceptionally love and hope to get soon when i would start working and earn on my own. gotta aim low first.

steak night after exams

the exams were finally over. a few days ago. i didn't think it went so well, but let's just skip that topic. today was the start of the first day of my summer vacation project. it wasn't anything much, because i had not attend the PC2 induction course, a course to attend such that it qualifies you to work in a PC2 lab. Hence, my supervisor just held a lab meeting in the morning, buying everyone coffee. we introduced ourselves and my supervisor briefly discussed about how the group was gonna be like, what are the things we'll be doing...

basically that was all we could do as the new students couldn't start work in lab immediately. but, she told us to read some journals and then do a half page summary for the journals related to our work. i have 3 to complete by Wednesday.

well, that didn't dampen my mood for some steak. been wanting to try some ever since i got here. and i found this place, it's called the Beach House bar and grill, located at Myer Centre in the City. it was crowded when i got there, i guess it was because of the Steak Night they had every Monday. 200g of Rump Steak with salad and fries for a price of Aud$8.90. however you have to order a drink first, and i got beer, just normal draught. the steak was generally good, but nothing fantastic. i think the only places which still had the best steaks are Morton's of Chicago and Lawry's the Prime Ribs.

it's been a rainy day. but the night sky was beautiful, casting a slightly blurred, misty look upon the city. i went over to Southbank, hoping to watch Quantum of Solace, but realised that the movie was not released yet.

without movies, there was a need of some after-dinner-dessert, so i went to this Batavia place nearby. its a mediterranean/east india kinda cafe, they sell tea and some antique like stuff and ornaments. and you can order various types of coffee but majority is tea. and they have their own cakes and pastries you can order.

some calenders.

those rolled up stuff are picture posters.

all right. these small little pastries is the Cookie platter i ordered. small pieces of cake, and bite sized cookies of different flavour. in the centre is chocolate dip. and there's chocolate powder and icing sugar spreaded all over.

me, serving the Batavia Chai Spice Tea. loose leaf tea (i can't remember from where) with spices like... cardamom, cinnamon, and i can't remember the other 2.

that's all folks. relaxation after the exams. better than going to noisy clubs, pubs and parties.

Wet n' Wild Waterworld

Had fun yesterday at the Wet n' Wild Waterworld at Helensvale, Gold Coast. started our trip by taking the train, from Toowong train station to Roma train station(below) then to Helensvale. basically, it was just like the Wild Wild Wet in Singapore, only bigger, better, faster, stronger!

this is Xinyan.

finally after more than an hour of train, then bus and we're here baby!!!

woooooh! all the excitement.

vivian, xinyan and me.

ultraman shades.

woooaaah...!

babes in all sorts of shapes and sizes. this is not Miami beach, don't expect too much.

i know what you are thinking guys... wish you could do that. wait long long.
i wish i got this rub down... also have to wait long long...
all righty! ready to rock and ride. damn the love handles.

i don't know what's with that look. wasn't ready for the picture.

ok... here are some of the attractions. this is the aqua racer. there are much much more rides in the Waterworld other than the few you see here. but i just didn't have the time to take pictures of all, because i was busy having so much fun!!!

i don't know what they call this. but it was fun.

one of the best looking babes.

the kiddie playground.

and these are the kids.

taking a break from the first round of fun.

~~~the Wave~~~
my radar spotted another babe sun-tanning.
"Don't wanna close my eyes... i don't wanna miss a thing..."
waiting for the next wave to hit.
swimming in shallow waters... haha...
the end-of-day tired look
waiting for the bus to go back to train station.
the moon.
we went back to the city to have dinner. and then went to Pancake Manors. for pancakes of course. the pancakes are really good. they're cooked just right and the texture is damn fine. and when you eat it with cream and maple syrup, wah....
